What Is My Skin

Updated: May 4, 2021

WHAT IS MY SKIN?

Take a look at the diagram below.

Our skin is the largest and one of the most important organs of the human body. It is the body's barrier against external stimulation, bacteria, UV rays, air pollution, harsh weather and foreign substances.

There are 3 primary layers of the skin: The subcutaneous layer acts as the base of the skin, which is located down below the dermis and epidermis which compose the outer layers of the skin. Skincare works on the top layer of your skin---the epidermis.

The dermis supports the epidermis. Skin's youthful appearance is directly related to the strength and suppleness of the dermis. It is a known fact that the amount of collagen in our skin tends to decline as we age.

Our skin's own moisturizer is a combination of sebum (oily substance) and perspiration (water substance). This oil and water combine on the surface to form what is called the film of sebum---a layer of protective moisture that keeps skin looking young and smooth.

As you can see from the graph, a woman in her 30s produces the same amount of natural moisturizer as a man in his 70s.

With Noevir, you can compensate for this moisture loss with skincare that resembles skin's natural moisturizer...

HOW SKIN CHANGES OVER TIME

Skin cell regeneration: Under ideal conditions, it takes 28 days for a new skin cell to reach the surface of the skin. As we age, however, our body's metabolism slows down and the cycle for skin cell regeneration increases.

The skin's moisture retention system: Intercellular lipids help retain moisture in the horny layer. They also act as a "glue" to bind epidermis cells together for fine texture and smooth skin. Like sebum, the amount of intercellular lipids decreases with age. As a result, skin appears dry and flaky.

Based on thorough understanding of skin cell regeneration and moisture retention system, Noevir skincare is developed to promote a healthy balance in the skin.
